The following settings are available: Option Effect level Quick sharp Sharpening Mid-range sharpening Clarity Contrast Brightness Saturation Hue Filter effects Toning Toning (Creative Picture Control) Description Mute or heighten the effect of Creative Picture Control. Quickly adjust levels for balanced Sharpening, Midrange sharpening, and Clarity. You can also make individual adjustments to the following parameters: • Sharpening: Control the sharpness of details and outlines. • Mid-range sharpening: Adjust sharpness according to the fineness of the patterns and lines in mid-tones affected by Sharpening and Clarity. • Clarity: Adjust overall sharpness and the sharpness of thicker outlines without affecting brightness or dynamic range. Adjust contrast. Raise or lower brightness without loss of detail in highlights or shadows. Control the vividness of colors. Adjust hue. Simulate the effect of color filters on monochrome pictures. Choose the tint used in monochrome pictures. Pressing 3 when an option other than B&W (black-and-white) is selected displays saturation options. Adjust the shade of color used for Creative Picture Controls. D Filter Effects Choose from the following: Mode Y (yellow) O (orange) R (red) G (green) Setting These options enhance contrast and can be used to tone down the brightness of the sky in landscape photographs. Orange produces more contrast than yellow, red more contrast than orange. Green softens skin tones and can be used for portraits. The i Menu 119
