a: Autofocus a1: AF-C Priority Selection G button ➜ A (Custom Settings menu) Choose whether photos can be taken before the camera focuses in focus mode AF-C. Option G Release F Focus Description Photos can be taken whenever the shutter-release button is pressed (release priority). Photos can be taken only when the camera is in focus (focus priority). Regardless of the option selected, focus will not lock when AF-C is selected for focus mode. The camera will continue to adjust focus until the shutter is released. a2: Auto-Area AF Face/Eye Detection G button ➜ A (Custom Settings menu) Choose whether the camera detects and focuses on faces or eyes, either of human portrait subjects or of dogs and cats, when auto-area AF is selected for AF-area mode. Option Description When the camera detects a portrait subject, it Face and eye automatically focuses on one or the other of the detection on subject's eyes, or on the subject's face if the eyes are not detected. Face detection on When the camera detects a portrait subject, it automatically focuses on the subject's face. When the camera detects a face of a dog or cat, it Animal detection automatically focuses on one or the other of the on subject's eyes.
