9 SLOW SHUTTER SPEEDS MODES rDATE Slow Shutter Speed (Flash- OFF) AF Depress the (000) mode button ($ ) until (42) appears on the LCD panel. In this mode, the flash does not discharge, and a picture is taken at a slow shutter speed up to approx. 2 seconds. Use this mode in places where flash photography is prohibited or for a natural existing light effect in low ambient photography. It is possible to photograph subjects and background in a balanced way by using the built-in flash to properly expose the fore- ground subject and a slow-speed to expose the low light background. Notes: • When shooting in low light, the shutter speed gets slower, and camera shake is likely to blur your picture. Use of a tripod is recommended. • In all flash modes make sure you are within the flash-effective range. 28
