When the subject is too dark or too bright, "1000" or "1" in the viewfinder blinks as a warning. Stop down the lens (toward f/22) or open it (toward f/2). When "1000" or "1" stops blinking, you are ready to shoot. When the subject is dark, use the Pentax dedicated flash.
