Section 01 Before You Start Resetting the microprocessor The microprocessor must be reset under the following conditions: ! Prior to using this unit for the first time after installation ! If the unit fails to operate properly ! When strange or incorrect messages ap- pear on the display % Press RESET with a pen tip or other pointed instrument. ! Avoid subjecting the front panel to excessive shocks. ! Keep the front panel out of direct sunlight and high temperatures. ! A few seconds after turning the ignition switch to on or off, the front panel automatically moves. When this happens, your fingers may become jammed in the panel, so keep your hands away from it. ! When removing the front panel, be sure to hold the corrugated release button on the rear of the front panel while pulling. Removing the front panel 1 Press and hold EJECT to open the front panel. RESET button Protecting your unit from theft The front panel can be detached from the head unit and stored in the provided protective case to prevent theft. ! If the front panel is not detached from the head unit within five seconds of turning off the ignition, a warning tone will sound and the front panel will open. ! You can turn off the warning tone. See Switching the warning tone on page 61. ! You can turn off the face auto open. See Switching the face auto open on page 61. Important ! Never use force or grip the display and the buttons too tightly when removing or attaching. 2 Press the release button, slide and remove the front panel toward you. Take care not to grip it too tightly or to drop the front panel and protect it from contact with water or other fluids to prevent permanent damage.
