6 When a sound, such as a person speaking, is picked up by the microphone, recording will begin automatically. q If a silence lasts for 3 seconds or more, the recording will be paused automatically. However, the unit will not pause for about the first 10 seconds after recording has started. 06 To interrupt a synchro recording: Press the button while recording. q The Mic synchro recording mode will be canceled, and the unit will enter the recording stand-by mode. q To resume synchro recording, press the ENTER/F.PLAY/SYNCHRO button again. To stop recording: Press the s/:OFF button. s Recording from the microphone (Mic manual recording) q You can start recording manually (any time you like). 1 Put the unit in the recording stand-by mode. (Perform steps 1 - 4 in the "Mic synchro recording" section.) 2 06 Press the button. q Recording will start. 06 To interrupt a recording: Press the button while recording. q The unit will enter the recording stand- 06 by mode. q To resume recording, press the button again. The track number will be increased by one each time you interrupt a recording. To stop recording: Press the s/:OFF button. Notes: q If you want to use a microphone, be sure it is a plug-in power type microphone that can be powered by the main unit. q Insert the plug firmly. Otherwise, the recording will not be made properly. q Use a microphone with a 1/8" (3.5 mm) diameter stereo mini plug. q When a recording is made using a stereo microphone (optionally available), an analog recording will be made. q While making a mic recording, do not connect anything to the LINE IN jack on the main unit. 14 MD-MS702
