Configuring Your System 17 Changing Power Management Settings Power Management capability is designed to enable your computer to reduce power or shut itself off after being idle for a specified period of time. 1 From the Start menu, point to Settings, click Control Panel, then click Display. The Power Options Properties dialog box opens, with the Power Schemes tab displayed. 2 Select the power scheme that is most appropriate for the way you use your computer. To change a power scheme, change the settings for Turn off monitor, and Turn off hard disks, System stand by, and System hibernates.

Changing Power Management Settings
Power Management capability is designed to enable your computer to
reduce power or shut itself off after being idle for a specified period of
time.

From the Start menu, point to Settings, click Control Panel, then click
Display.
The Power Options Properties dialog box opens, with the Power
Schemes tab displayed.
