This is possible, since the LS and RS speakers are assigned the same signal, thereby creating a "phantom" CS speaker (attenuated by 3dB). The default is the LRCS rear hard speaker configuration, where the LS(S) signal is assigned to the CS speaker of a 6.1 configuration (not shown above).
