Using the PARENTAL CONTROL menu See "Navigating the menus" on page 20. Using the TV's features 7 MPAA RATING English The PARENTAL CONTROL feature allows you to block programs based on their TV or MPAA rating. The factory default password is 1111. TV PG RATING Use ▲▼ to select the rating you want to block or unblock, then press ENTER. • OFF → No MPAA rating control. • G → General Audience (Appropriate for all ages.) • PG → Parental Guidance Suggested (Some material may not be suitable for children.) • PG-13 → Parents Strongly Cautioned (Some material may be inappropriate for children under 13.) • R → Restricted (Under 17 requires accompanying parent or adult.) • NC-17 → Not intended for anyone 17 and under. • X → X-rated (For adults only.) PASSWORD EDIT Use ▲▼to select the rating level you want to block (or unblock), then press ENTER. • OFF → No TV rating control. • TV-Y → All Children (This program is designed to be appropriate for all children.) • TV-Y7 → Directed to Older Children (This program is designed for children age 7 and above. • TV-G → General Audience (Most parents would find this program suitable for all ages.) Enter the 4 new digits and the setup automatically proceeds to the next line. Enter the 4 new digits again and press ENTER to confirm that the change is completed. • TV-PG → Parental Guidance Suggested (This program contains material parents may find unsuitable for younger children.) • TV-14 → Parents Strongly Cautioned (This program contains some material that many parents would find unsuitable for children under 14 years of age.) • TV-MA → Mature Audience Only (This program is specifically designed to be viewed by adults and therefore may be unsuitable for children under 17.) RRT (Blocking TV programs and movies by additional ratings) In the future, an additional rating system may become available for use in selectively blocking programs. To download the additional rating system (if available), select RRT and press ENTER. Note: • The RRT feature will only be available if an additional rating system is currently available. • Some period of time may be required to download the additional rating system. • The information displayed in the RRT screen will depend on the configuration of the additional rating system available at the time of download. • The additional rating system can only be downloaded one time. You will not be able to download any updates to the rating system unless such updates become available. • The additional rating system is not designed, transmitted, or controlled by the TV or Toshiba, nor is the availability of an additional rating system determined or controlled by Toshiba. Similarly, the rating of programs in an additional rating system is not determined, transmitted, or controlled by the TV or Toshiba. • The additional rating system is an evolving technology; therefore, availability, content, and format may vary.
