14 Getting Started Setting up the fax function 3 Follow the on-screen instructions to set up your printer. TECHNICAL NOTE: Some printers require a specific installation process. In this case, the Windows® XP Professional Add Printer Wizard will display an error message. If this happens, refer to your printer installation guide for further instructions. For more information about setting up your printer, see the Portégé 4000 Series User's Guide. Setting up the fax function Your system's auto-receive fax function default setting is disabled. To enable the function, you must first set up the fax capability. 1 Click Start, Printers and Faxes. The Printers and Faxes window appears. 2 Click the Set up faxing option in the top-left corner. 3 Follow the on-screen instructions. To enable the fax function: 1 Click Start, Printers and Faxes. 2 Right-click the fax icon. 3 Click Properties from the drop-down menu. 4 Click the Device tab. 5 Under the device name, right-click Toshiba Soft Modem AMR, highlight Receive and click the auto option. To disable the auto-receive function, repeat steps 1-4. But under the device name, right-click Toshiba Soft Modem AMR, highlight Receive and click the disable option.
