Telephone operation Transfer a call (continued) At the telephone base: 1. During a call, press HOLD and the outside call is put on hold. Press the MENU softkey and then press /CID or /DIR to select Intercom. -OR- During a call, press the OPTION softkey and the press /CID or /DIR to select Intercom. The outside call is put on hold automatically. 2. When you have only one system handset, your telephone base shows Calling handset 1 and the handset rings and shows Base is calling. -OR- When you have more than one system handsets, your telephone base shows INTERCOM TO:, press /CID or /DIR to select a destination handset and then press the SELECT softkey. The telephone base shows Calling handset X. The destination handset rings and its screen shows Base is calling. 3. To answer the intercom call on the destination handset, press , , or INT. The outside call is still on hold and both telephone base and the destination handset now show Intercom. You can now have a private conversation between the telephone base and the destination handset. • If you want to cancel an intercom call and reconnect to the outside call before the destination handset answers, press the corresponding line button, LINE 1 or LINE 2, on your telephone base. • If the destination handset does not answer the intercom call within 100 seconds, is in the directory or call log, or is out of range, your telephone base shows Unable to call try again and the outside call is still on hold. Press the corresponding line button, LINE 1 or LINE 2 on your telephone base to reconnect to the outside call. 4. Press CANCEL or the END softkey on the telephone base. Both screens show Intercom ended. 5. The telephone base and the destination handset show L1)ON HOLD if the call is on line 1. Press on the destination handset to connect the call on line 1. The same procedures apply if the call is on line 2. 40
