HOW TO USE THE MANUAL MODE Note: The buttons on the console are located on the dots next to the text (see the drawing on page 12). Make sure to press the dots when you are instructed to press a button. 1. Turn on the console. To turn on the console, press the On/Reset button or begin pedaling. The display will light and the console will be ready for use. 2. Select the manual mode. When you turn on the console, the Indicators manual mode will be selected. If you have selected a pace workout, reselect the man- ual mode by pressing the Workout Select Indicators button repeatedly until zeros appear in the display. 3. Begin pedaling and change the resistance of the pedals as desired. As you pedal, adjust the resistance of the pedals as desired by turning the resistance knob. 4. Follow your progress with the display. The display can show the following workout information: RPM Meter-The RPM meter on the right side of the display provides a visual representa- tion of your approximate ped- aling pace in revolutions per RPM Meter minute (rpm). As you increase or decrease your pedaling pace, indi- cators will appear or disappear in the RPM meter. Time-This mode shows the elapsed time. Note: When a pace workout is selected, the display shows the time remaining in the workout instead of the elapsed time. Distance-This mode shows the distance you have pedaled, in miles or kilometers. Calories-This mode shows the approximate number of calories you have burned. Pulse-This mode shows your heart rate when you use the handgrip pulse sensor. Speed-This mode shows your pedaling speed, in miles per hour (mph) or kilometers per hour (km/h), and in revolutions per minute (rpm). Scan-This mode shows alternating time and distance, calories and pulse, and speed information. Note: The pulse information will appear only when you are using the pulse sensor. When you turn on the console, the scan mode will be selected automatically. One indicator will appear below the word SCAN to show that the scan mode is selected, and other indicators will show which information is currently displayed (see the drawing at the left). Note: If you have selected a different mode, press the Display button repeatedly to reselect the scan mode. Press the Display button repeatedly to view the following exercise information for continuous display: • Time and speed in miles per hour or kilometers per hour • Distance and speed in revolutions per minute (rpm) The indicators will show which mode is selected. Make sure that there is not an indicator below the word SCAN. 13

Make sure to press the dots when you are instructed
to press a button.

Turn on the console.
To turn on the console, press the On/Reset button
or begin pedaling. The display will light and the
console will be ready for use.

Select the manual mode.
When you turn on
the console, the
manual mode will
be selected. If
you have selected
a pace workout,
reselect the man-
ual mode by
pressing the
Workout Select
button repeatedly
until zeros appear in the display.
3.
Begin pedaling and change the resistance of
the pedals as desired.
As you pedal, adjust the resistance of the pedals
as desired by turning the resistance knob.
4.
Follow your progress with the display.
The display can show the following workout infor-
mation:
RPM Meter
—The
RPM meter on the
right side of the
display provides a
visual representa-
tion of your
approximate ped-
aling pace in
revolutions per
minute (rpm). As
you increase or decrease your pedaling pace, indi-
cators will appear or disappear in the RPM meter.
Time
—This mode shows the elapsed time. Note:

Scan
—This mode shows alternating time and dis-
tance, calories and pulse, and speed information.
Note: The pulse information will appear only when
you are using the pulse sensor.
When you turn on the console, the scan mode will
be selected automatically. One indicator will
appear below the word SCAN to show that the
scan mode is selected, and other indicators will
show which information is currently displayed (see
the drawing at the left). Note: If you have selected
a different mode, press the Display button repeat-
edly to reselect the scan mode.
Press the Display button repeatedly to view the
following exercise information for continuous dis-
play:
• Time and speed in miles per hour or kilometers
per hour
• Distance and speed in revolutions per minute
(rpm)
The indicators will show which mode is selected.
Make sure that there is not an indicator below the
