Handling Song Files In the File mode, you can perform various operations and manage Song files saved to a connected USB storage device. Before connecting a USB storage device, refer to "Connecting a USB storage device" (page 47). MIDI TO AUDIO COPY TO USB DEL./FORMAT Function Converting a MIDI Song to an Audio Song This converts a MIDI Song file in the instrument or USB storage device to an audio Song file. The audio Song is saved as WAV format to the "USER FILES" folder in the USB storage device, and the file is automatically named as "USERAUDIOxx.WAV" (xx: numerals). Copying a User Song from the instrument to a USB storage device This copies the User Song in the instrument the USB Storage Device. The copied Song is saved as SMF format to the "USER FILES" folder in the USB storage device, and the file is automatically named as "USERSONGxx.MID" (xx: numerals). Deleting a Song in a USB storage device This deletes Songs in the USB Storage Device one at a time. Formatting the USB storage device When a USB storage device is connected or media is inserted, "UnF" may appear in the display prompting you to format the device/media. If so, execute the Format operation. Page 41 42 43 44 NOTE Before handling Songs with a USB storage device, make sure that the device is not protected. If the device is protected, you cannot access it. NOTE File mode cannot be called up in the following situations. • Demo Song mode (page 22) • During Song playback/pause (page 30) • Record mode (page 34) NOTICE Do not turn off the power of the instrument or disconnect the USB storage device during the File mode or when dashes appear in the display in succession. Doing so may corrupt the data on either or both devices. Song file management in a USB storage device Songs recorded in this instrument are called "User Songs" while Songs created outside this instrument are called "External Songs." In a USB storage device, User Songs are saved in the USER FILES folder. External Songs are saved outside the USER FILES folder. However, User Songs are regarded as External Songs if the folder name is changed or the files are moved to outside the USER FILES folder by using a computer. If you organize the Song files in a USB storage device by using computer, make sure to save the External Song files to the first, second or third level folder. Songs saved in a folder lower than the third level cannot be selected or played with this instrument. USB storage device First Level Song File Second Level Third Level Can be played.
