Song Recording 2 Select a User song for recording. Use the numeric keypad to select the desired song: 101 - 105. If no song is manually selected, the PSR-280 automatically selects the first available empty song number. 102 User 2 • User song numbers can be selected in the same way as with the voices (see page 24). You can use the numeric keypad to directly enter the song number, use the [+]/[-] buttons to step up and down through the songs. 3 Select a track number for recording. While holding down the [RECORD] button, press the appropriate SONG MEMORY button. rEC User 2 • Keep in mind that all recording operations "replace" the data. In other words, if you record to a track that already has recorded data, all previous data in the track will be erased and replaced by the newly recorded data. G Muting Tracks During Playback While recording is enabled, you can selectively mute different tracks. This is useful for when you want to clearly hear certain tracks, and not others, during recording. Muting can also be done "on the fly" during playback. To use muting, press the corresponding SONG MEMORY button, repeatedly if necessary, until the desired track number in the display is off. Each press of a SONG MEMORY button (when playback is stopped) cycles through the following settings: Track number off - Track is muted. Track number flashes - Track will record.* * Cannot be selected during playback. Track number on - Track will play back. I Recording to the Chord Track A special Chord track is provided for recording accompaniment data. This is automatically recorded to the Chord track (track A). Selecting the Chord track automatically turns on the accompaniment. • If accompaniment has already been turned on before entering the Record mode, the Chord track is automatically selected. 56

Muting Tracks During Playback
While recording is enabled, you can selectively mute different tracks.
This is useful for when you want to clearly
hear certain tracks, and not others, during recording.
Muting can also be done “on the fly” during playback.
To use
muting, press the corresponding SONG MEMORY button, repeatedly if necessary, until the desired track number
in the display is off.
Each press of a SONG MEMORY button (when playback is stopped) cycles through the following settings:
Track number flashes — Track will record.*
* Cannot be selected during playback.
Track number off — Track is muted.
Track number on — Track will play back.
• If accompaniment has already
