Rear Window Defogger (Option) If your vehicle is equipped with this option, the rear window defogger uses a warming grid to remove fog from the rear window. The button is located in the center of the instrument panel. NOTICE: Don't use a razor blade or something else sharp on the inside of the rear window. If you do, you could cut or damage the warming grid, and the repairs wouldn't be covered by your warranty. Ventilation System For mild outside temperatures, when very little heating is required, you can still direct outside air through your vehicle. Use outside air and turn the mode knob to the vent mode. Turn the temperature knob to a comfortable setting and the fan knob toward HI. Airflow through the side vents is normal in all modes. To optimize the effectiveness of your system in the floor, defog, or defrost modes, turn the outboard vent (shut-off) thumbwheels down to the closed position. Your vehicle's flow-through ventilation system supplies outside air into the vehicle when it is moving. Outside air will also enter the vehicle when the heater or the air conditioning fan is running and the comfort control system is circulating outside air. Press the button to turn on the defogger. The defogger will stay on for about 15 minutes, then it will shut off automatically. You can turn it off by pressing the button again. Use it only when the engine is running. Make sure you turn the defogger off when the window is clear. Leaving the defogger on for a long time could cause the battery to run down, especially during stop-and-go driving. The defogger is not designed for drying water or melting snow. Do not attach anything like a temporary vehicle license or a decal across the defogger grid on the rear window. 3-5
