Features & Contmls Tailgate , I K 0218 From theoutside,use your door key to unlockthetailgate assembly. Withthe key in the lock, turn the lock handletothe left to unlockthe glass. The tailgatecannotbeopenedwithout first openingtheliftglass. Raisethe glass, 'then turnthe lockhandle totherighttounlockthetailgate. If your vehiclehasatailgate-mounted spare tirecarrier, you must move the' carrierarmout of the way to open the glass. It can be dangerous to drive with the rear window or rear door open. Carban monoxide (CO)gas can come into your vehicle. You can't see or smell CO. It can cause unconsciousness and evendeath. If you must drive with the rearwindow or rear door open: Make sure all other windows areshut. Turn the fan on your heating or cooling system to its highest speedwith the setting on VENT (that wilt force outside air into your vehicle). See "Comfort Controls" in the Index.
