STARTING AND DRIVING (b) Using engine braking When cruise control is being used, the vehicle will not decelerate even if you downshift from "D" to "B". The cruise control must first be cancelled. For vehicle speed reduction, see page 420 (with cruise control) or pages 431 and 441 (with dynamic laser cruise control). CAUTION Be careful when downshifting on a slippery surface. The abrupt shifting could cause the vehicle to skid or spin. To use engine braking intentionally, downshift the transmission to "B" position and take your foot off the accelerator pedal. During high speed driving you may feel that engine braking is less effective than that of ordinary vehicle. Do not continue normal driving with the transmission in "B" for a long time. This may cause decreased fuel economy. 414

Using engine braking
To use engine braking intentionally, downshift the transmission
to °B± position and take your foot off the accelerator pedal.
During high speed driving you may feel that engine braking is
less effective than that of ordinary vehicle.
Do not continue normal driving with the transmission in
±B² for a long time.
This may cause decreased fuel
economy.
When cruise control is being used, the vehicle will not
