Unlocking the trunk lid The handle is located in the rear license plate recess. i If the vehicle was previously centrally locked with the SmartKey, the trunk lid will lock automatically after closing it. The turn signals will flash three times to confirm locking. Vehicles with KEYLESS-GO: To prevent a possible inadvertent lockout, the trunk lid will open automatically if a SmartKey with KEYLESS-GO* is recognized in the area of the rear shelf or inside the trunk. ! If you cannot lock or unlock the vehicle with the SmartKey with KEYLESS-GO, then either the batteries of the key are discharged or the key is malfunctioning. Check the batteries of the SmartKey with KEYLESS-GO ( page 86) and replace them if necessary ( page 312). Use the mechanical key to unlock the driver's door ( page 310) and trunk lid ( page 311) as required. Lock the vehicle using the mechanical key ( page 311). If your SmartKey with KEYLESS-GO is malfunctioning, contact your authorized Mercedes-Benz Center. Pull on the handle and lift up the trunk lid. The vehicle unlocks the trunk lid only. If the trunk lid does not open, it is still locked separately ( page 95). The trunk can also be opened from the inside in an emergency, see "Trunk lid emergency release" ( page 93). ! The trunk lid swings open upwards automatically. Always make sure that there is sufficient overhead clearance. 90
