A considerably higher degree of effort is necessary to steer the vehicle. X Check whether you are capable to apply the higher degree of effort necessary to safely steer the vehicle. If you are able to steer the vehicle safely: X X 279 D Power Steering Malfunctio n See Operator's Manual Continue driving with added caution. Have the system checked at an authorized Mercedes-Benz Center. X Stop the vehicle in a safe location as soon as it is safe to do so. X Apply the parking brake. X Do not continue to drive. X Contact an authorized Mercedes-Benz Center. Engine Display messages Possible causes/consequences and M Solutions + The coolant level is too low. Check Coolant X Add coolant (Y page 216). Level See X If you have to add coolant frequently, have the cooling Operator's system checked at an authorized Mercedes-Benz Center. Manual G Warning! Do not spill antifreeze on hot engine parts. Antifreeze contains ethylene glycol which may burn if it comes into contact with hot engine parts. You could be seriously burned. ! Do not ignore the low engine coolant level warning. Extended driving with the message and symbol displayed may cause serious engine damage not covered by the Mercedes-Benz Limited Warranty. Do not drive without sufficient amount of coolant in the cooling system. The engine will overheat causing major engine damage.
