Control functions ESU13112 Adjusting the spring preload of the sliding frame extension EWS00750 WARNING The left and right spring preloads must be adjusted to the same setting. Uneven settings can cause poor handling and loss of stability. 1. Nut 2. Full rate adjusting bolt The spring preload of the sliding frame extension can be adjusted by turning the adjusting nuts. 1 2 (a) (b) 1. Full rate adjusting bolt Spring rate and damping force setting (full rate adjusting bolt installation position): Minimum (soft): S Standard: S Maximum (hard): H 3. While holding the adjusting bolt securely, tighten the nut. Nut tightening torque: 49 Nm (4.9 m·kgf, 35 ft·lbf) 1. Spring preload adjusting nut 2. Distance A To increase the spring preload, turn the adjusting nut in direction (a). To decrease the spring preload, turn the adjusting nut in direction (b). TIP The spring preload setting is determined by measuring distance A, shown in the illustration. The longer distance A is, the higher the spring preload; the shorter distance A is, the lower the spring preload. 24
