32 1 Getting to know your TravelMate Running PlatinumSecure PlatinumSecure enhances the secure logon procedure for Windows Me or 2000 at the operating system level. It provides user authentication with an encryption/decryption function using the SmartCard. If your SmartCard is unavailable, the Emergency Card can serve as a temporary replacement of the SmartCard. After installation, the PlatinumSecure icon appears on the Windows desktop. Double-click on it or click the right mouse button, then select Open from the pop-up menu (or launch it from the PlatinumSecret program group). From the menu that appears, you can directly access three operations: PlatinumSecure Options, SmartCard Manager, and Change Password.
