Chapter 1 1.1.3 Central Processing Unit (CPU) The motherboard comes with an AM4 socket designed for AMD Ryzen™ 2nd Generation/ Ryzen™ with Radeon™ Vega Graphics/ Ryzen™ 1st Generation/ 7th Generation A-Series/ Athlon X4 processors up to 8 cores. ® PRIME X470-PRO CPU socket AM4 The AM4 socket has a different pinout design. Ensure that you use a CPU designed for the AM4 socket. The CPU fits in only one correct orientation. DO NOT force the CPU into the socket to prevent bending the connectors on the socket and damaging the CPU! Ensure that all power cables are unplugged before installing the CPU. 1.1.4 System memory The motherboard comes with four Double Data Rate 4 (DDR4) Dual Inline Memory Modules (DIMM) slots. A DDR4 module is notched differently from a DDR, DDR2, or DDR3 module. DO NOT install a DDR, DDR2, or DDR3 memory module to the DDR4 slot.
