URL for linked web document Measuring Distances Online Help Index measuring distances You can easily measure the distance between points on a map. When you measure the distance between multiple points in succession, you can view the distance between each segment you measure as well as the cumulative total of all segments measured. Note Depending on the map's coordinate system and the area displayed (smaller areas tend to be more accurate than larger areas), distances may not be accurate. To improve the accuracy of distances, you can select a coordinate system that has accurate or partly accurate distances, keeping in mind that the areas will then appear distorted. You use the View Distance command to measure distances. For step-by step instructions, choose Help Contents, click the Index tab, and look up "measuring distances." Measuring Distances | 133
