If you press and hold the start /stop button within 20 seconds of the manual icon lighting up, you can extend the brewing process in order to adjust the strength of your drink. Using this manual operation will result in a milder tasting drink. Use the default position for normal cups. To adjust the shelf for small cups (e.g. espresso cups), turn the height adjustment control counterclockwise until it clicks into place. For large cups or glasses, the cup stand can be removed completely.
