Troubleshooting and Routine Maintenance Error Message Cause Unusable Device Please Disconnect USB Device. A USB device or USB Flash memory drive that is not supported has been connected to the USB direct interface. For more information, visit us at http://solutions.brother.com Action Unplug the device from the USB direct interface. Error animation B Error animation automatically displays stepby-step instructions when paper gets jammed or ink cartridges become empty. You can read the steps at your own pace by pressing c to see the next step and d to go backward. If you do not press a key, after 1 minute the animation starts running automatically again. Note You can press c, d or OK to pause the auto-animation and go back to step-bystep mode. Document jam (DCP-560CN only) B Documents can jam in the ADF unit if they are not inserted or fed properly, or if they are too long. Follow the steps below to clear a document jam. Document is jammed in the top of the ADF unit B a Take out any paper from the ADF that is not jammed. b Open the ADF cover. c Pull the jammed document up and to the B left. d Close the ADF cover. e Press Stop/Exit. Note To avoid document jams close the ADF cover properly by pressing it down in the middle. 71
