The machine has a mechanical problem. 1-877-BROTHER (in Canada) Replace the toner cartridge with a new one. (See Replacing a toner cartridge on page 161.) Disconnect the machine from the power for several minutes, then reconnect it. (The machine can be turned off for approximately 60 hour without losing faxes stored in the memory. See Transferring your faxes or Fax Journal report on page 144.) Document is too long for duplex scanning. The scanner lock is locked. Press Stop/Exit. Use the suitable size of paper for duplex scanning. (See Scan on page 201.) Open the document cover, and then release the scanner lock lever. Press Stop/Exit. 142
