GETTING READY CAUTION ● If the spool or the spool cap is not positioned correctly, the thread may become tangled around the spool pin and the needle may break. ● Three spool cap sizes are available (large, medium and small), allowing you to choose a spool cap that best fits the size of spool being used. If the spool cap is too small for the spool being used, the thread may catch on the slit in the spool and the needle may break. While holding the thread lightly with your h right hand, pull the thread with your left hand, and then pass the thread behind the thread guide cover and to the front. 1 While using your right hand to lightly hold the j thread passed under the thread guide plate, pass the thread through the thread path in the order shown below. 1 a Shutter Note z If the presser foot has been lowered and the shutter is closed, the machine cannot be threaded. Be sure to raise the presser foot and open the shutter before threading the machine. In addition, before removing the upper thread, be sure to raise the presser foot and open the shutter. z This machine is equipped with a window that allows you to check the position of the take-up lever. right hand, pull the thread with your left hand,
and then pass the thread behind the thread
guide cover and to the front.

and then pull it up.

pass the thread through the thread path in the

Note

and open the shutter before threading the
machine. In addition, before removing the

guide.

Next, use the needle threader to thread the
needle. Continue with the procedure in
“Threading the needle” (page 31).
