A Fully Automatic Shooting (Scene Intelligent Auto) is a fully automatic mode. The camera analyzes the scene and sets the optimum settings automatically. It can also adjust focus automatically on either the still or moving subject by detecting the motion of the subject (p.79). Area AF frame 1 Set the Mode Dial to . Turn the Mode Dial while holding down the lock release button at the center. When the shooting mode description appears on the LCD monitor, press to hide it (p.71). 2 Aim the Area AF frame over the subject. All the AF points will be used to focus, and the camera will basically focus on the closest object. Aiming the center of the Area AF frame over the subject will make focusing easier. 3 Focus on the subject. Press the shutter button halfway. The lens elements will shift to focus. X When achieving focus, the AF point that has achieved focus will be displayed. At the same time, the beeper will sound and the focus indicator in the viewfinder will light up. X In low light, the AF point(s) will light up briefly in red. Focus indicator 76
