In mode, adjust the headphone's volume the same way you adjust the speaker's volume ( 38). During slideshow playback, push the joystick ( ) to adjust the volume. IMPORTANT • When using headphones, make sure to lower the volume to an appropriate level. • Do not connect the headphones to the AV OUT/ H terminal if the icon does not appear on the screen. Only noise will be output in such case. NOTES • Use commercially available headphones with a ∅ 3.5 mm minijack. • Even if the AV OUT/ H terminal is set to [ PHONES] during playback mode, the setting will change to [ AV] when the operating mode is changed to or mode. Using an External Microphone You can attach a commercially available microphone for recording movies. When recording in very quiet surroundings, the built-in microphone may pick up the sound of the camcorder's internal machinery. In such case, we recommend using an external microphone. ( 25) Connecting a Microphone Connect the external microphone to the MIC terminal. Use commercially available condenser microphones with their own power supply. You can connect almost any stereo microphone with a ∅ 3.5 mm plug but audio recording levels may vary. IMPORTANT Make sure to check the audio recording level before recording with the external microphone ( 88). NOTES When an external microphone is connected to the camcorder, [WIND SCREEN] will automatically be set to [ OFF ]. 55
