Low Level Memory Card Formatting Perform low level formatting when you think that the recording/reading speed of a memory card has dropped. Low level formatting a memory card completely erases all data on the memory card. As you cannot retrieve the erased data, exercise adequate caution before low level formatting the memory card. Display the menu. ● Press the n button. Select [Format]. ● Press the qr buttons to select the 3 tab. ● Press the op buttons or turn the  dial to select [Format], then press the m button. Perform the low level format. ● Press the op buttons or turn the  dial to select [Low Level Format], then use the qr buttons to display . ● Press the opqr buttons or turn the  dial to select [OK], then press the m button. Low level formatting starts. About low level formatting When the [Memory card error] message appears, or when the camera does not work correctly, low level formatting the memory card may solve the problem. Copy the images from the memory card to a computer or other device before low level formatting. • Low level formatting may take longer than standard formatting (p. 22), since all recorded data are erased. • You can stop a low level format of a memory card by selecting [Stop]. When stopping low level formatting, the data will be erased but the memory card can be used without problem. 52
