Preparing the Ink Cartridge This section describes how to prepare the ink cartridge so that you can use the imprinter to print text or a bitmap on scanned documents. About the Ink Cartridge The ink cartridge is not included with the scanner. Purchase an ink cartridge separately, as shown below. Compatible ink cartridges: Canon ink cartridge PG-50 Black (0616B002) or PG-40 Black (0615B002) IMPORTANT These ink cartridges are available for 5 years after production has stopped. Setting the Ink Cartridge and Adjusting the Print Position The ink cartridge needs to be set to print. Set the ink cartridge according to the following procedure. You can adjust the print position to two different levels. IMPORTANT To set the ink cartridge, turn the scanner OFF before removing the Top Cover. After the ink cartridge is set, replace the Top Cover, and then turn the scanner back ON. 1 Remove the Top Cover. 2 Squeeze the Print Position Adjustment Lever, and push it down to the bottom position. 3 Place the ink cartridge shown in the diagram below. CAUTION Do not touch the electrical contact on the carriage. Doing so may cause a malfunction. NOTE Do not use more than one cartridge by rotation. If you do so, applications cannot check the ink level precisely. 13
