3.2 List of Error Messages This section explains the various messages that may appear on the ScanFront 400 CAC/PIV device's UI when logging on and sending secure e-mail messages. The actual error code or error message is shown on the screen. 3.2.1 ScanFront Device Login Error Messages This section explains the error messages that may appear on the ScanFront 400 CAC/PIV device's Login screen, along with their possible causes and remedies. Message Cause Remedy No Authentication Server available. The authentication servers are disabled. The system administrator must enable the appropriate authentication servers from the Authentication Server Setting screen. Logon to ScanFront device failed. The ScanFront 400 CAC/PIV portion of the login (PKI and PKINIT verification) succeeded, but a problem occurred on the device side. Check the log file for additional error information on a possible cause and resolution. The card was removed during the login process. The login process will be aborted. The CAC or PIV card was removed from the card reader before the login process completed. Leave the card in the card reader while logging on to the device and while performing operations. Failed to verify PIV authentication certificate locally. • The card or card reader you are using to log on to the device is problematic (i.e., there is a bad certificate on the card or corrupt memory). • The PIV authentication certificate did not pass the verification checks configured by the administrator. • Log on to the device with a known good card, or try using a known good card reader on the device. • Update the PIV authentication certificate on the card, or disable the PIV authentication checking options.
