System board NOTE: The system board spare part kit includes replacement thermal material. Description System board with UMA graphics and RTC battery with GL40 chipset having 667-MHz FSB System board, Park XT, with discrete graphics and RTC battery with PM45 chipset having 1066MHz FSB (for use in APJ only) System board with UMA graphics and RTC battery with GM45 chipset having 1066-MHz FSB System board with discrete graphics and RTC battery with PM45 chipset having 1066-MHz FSB Spare part number 605748-001 625491-001 605747-001 605746-001 Before removing the system board, follow these steps: 1. Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system. 2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer. 3. Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer. 4. Remove the battery (see Battery on page 56). 5. Remove the service door (see Service door on page 56). 6. Remove the hard drive (see Hard drive on page 59). 7. Remove the optical drive (see Optical drive on page 68). 8. Remove the fan (see Fan on page 69). 9. Remove the palm rest (see Palm rest on page 73). 10. Remove the keyboard (see Keyboard on page 78). 11. Remove the top cover (see Top cover on page 82). When replacing the system board, be sure that the following components are removed from the defective system board and installed on the replacement system board: ● Memory module (see Memory module on page 64) ● WLAN module (see WLAN module on page 66) ● Modem module (see Modem module on page 109) ● Heat sink (see Heat sink on page 70) ● Processor (see Processor on page 71) ● Audio board (see Audio board on page 111) 102 Chapter 4 Removal and replacement procedures
