Power button board Description Power button board (includes power button board cable) Spare part number 431438-001 Before removing the power button board, follow these steps: 1. Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system. 2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer. 3. Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer. 4. Remove the battery (see Battery on page 41). 5. Remove the switch cover (see Switch cover on page 52). 6. Remove the keyboard (see Keyboard on page 54). Remove the power button board: 1. Remove the Phillips PM2.5×4.0 screw (1) that secures the power button board to the fan/heat sink assembly. 2. Release the power button board (2) from the computer as far as the cables allow. 3. Disconnect the microphone cable (1) and the speaker cable (2) from the power button board. 4. Release the ZIF connector (3) to which the power button board cable is connected, and disconnect the cable. 56 Chapter 4 Removal and replacement procedures

Before removing the power button board, follow these steps:

Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the

Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet and

Remove the power button board:

Remove the Phillips PM2.5×4.0 screw

that secures the power button board to the fan/heat sink
assembly.

Release the power button board

from the computer as far as the cables allow.

Disconnect the microphone cable

and the speaker cable
(2)
from the power button board.

.
Release the ZIF connector
(3)
to which the power button board cable is connected, and disconnect
the cable.
