DES-3028 DES-3028P DES-3028G DES-3052 DES-3052P Layer 2 Fast Ethernet Managed Switch TFTP Services Trivial File Transfer Protocol (TFTP) services allow the Switch's firmware to be upgraded by transferring a new firmware file from a TFTP server to the Switch. A configuration file can also be loaded into the Switch from a TFTP server. Switch settings can be saved to the TFTP server, and a history log can be uploaded from the Switch to the TFTP server. The TFTP server must be running TFTP server software to perform the file transfer. Figure 6- 23. TFTP Services window The user also has the option of transferring firmware and configuration files to and from the internal Flash drive, located on the Switch. Using this window, the user can add a configuration or firmware file from a TFTP server to the flash memory, or transfer that firmware or configuration file to a TFTP server. More about configuring the internal Flash drive can be found in the next section entitled Flash File Services. TFTP server software is a part of many network management software packages - such as NetSight, or can be obtained as a separate program. To update the Switch's firmware or configuration file, click Administration > TFTP Services. The following parameters can be configured: Parameter Description Active Select a service for the TFTP server to perform from the drop down window:  Download Firmware - Enter the IP address of the TFTP server and specify the location of the new firmware on the TFTP server. Click Start to record the IP address of the TFTP server and to initiate the file transfer.  Download Configuration - Enter the IP address of the TFTP server, and the path and filename for the Configuration file on the TFTP server. Click Start to record the IP address of the TFTP server and to initiate the file transfer.  Upload Configuration - Enter the IP address of the TFTP server and the path and filename for the switch settings on the TFTP server. Click Start to record the IP address of the TFTP server and to initiate the file transfer.  Upload Log - Enter the IP address of the TFTP server and the path and filename for the history log on the TFTP server. Click Start to record the IP address of the TFTP server and to initiate the file transfer. Server IP Address Enter the IP address of the server from which to download firmware or configuration files. File Name Enter the path and filename of the firmware or configuration file to upload or download, located on the TFTP server. Image ID To select a firmware file from the internal Flash drive to which the firmware file will be transferred. Click Start to initiate the file transfer. 52

for the history log on the TFTP server. Click

Server IP Address
Enter the IP address of the server from which to download firmware or configuration files.
File Name
Enter the path and filename of the firmware or configuration file to upload or download, located
on the TFTP server.
Image ID
To select a firmware file from the internal Flash drive to which the firmware file will be
transferred.
Click
Start
