Port State Connection Reason xStack® DGS-3600 Series Layer 3 Managed Gigabit Ethernet Switch Displays the port that has been error disabled. Describes the current running state of the port, whether enabled or disabled. This field will read the uplink status of the individual ports, whether enabled or disabled. Describes the reason why the port has been error-disabled, such as a STP loopback occurrence. Port Description The Switch supports a port description feature where the user may name various ports on the Switch. Use the From and To pull-down menu to choose a port or range of ports to describe, and then enter a description of the port(s). Click Apply to set the descriptions in the Port Description Table. The Medium Type applies only to the Combo ports. If configuring the Combo ports this defines the type of transport medium used. SFP ports should be nominated Fiber and the Combo 1000BASE-T ports should be nominated Copper. The result will be displayed in the appropriate switch port number slot (C for copper ports and F for fiber ports). To assign names to various ports, click Administration > Port Configuration > Port Description, as shown. The following parameters are displayed: Parameter Description Figure 2- 11. Port Description window Unit From/To Medium Type Description Use the pull-down menu to select switch unit to configure. Use the pull-down menus to select the port or range of ports to be configured.
