In a direct-connect configuration, each HBA should have one port connected to the top storage controller and the other port connected to the bottom storage controller (see Figure 3). 4.2 Single server configuration cabling diagram Storage pools Two virtual storage pools were created with twelve disks each and assigned a data protection type of RAID-5. RAID-5 data protection is used for this solution because it provides maximum capacity while still maintaining great read performance. With the ME4 Series, a storage pool is owned by a single controller.
