To view IP information on an interface in Layer 3 mode, use the show ip interface command in EXEC Privilege mode (Figure 21-7). Either method can be used to connect to the system. Configuring a Management Interface On the S5000 the dedicated Management interface provides management access to the system. You can configure this interface with FTOS, but the configuration options on this interface are limited. Gateway addresses and IP addresses cannot be configured if it appears in the main routing table of FTOS. In addition, Proxy ARP is not supported on this interface. Note: On the S5000, a default IP address is assigned to the Management port. Use this IP address to set your laptop Ethernet port to the same network for test purposes.
