EPSON Product Support Bulletin SUBJECT: ActionNote 600 Series NoteBook Computer and the Sony PRD-150 External CD-ROM Discman Drive Kit Date: 5/26/95 Page(s): 1 of 2 PSB No: PSB S-0183 Originator: DS This bulletin provides information on configuring the Sony PRD-150 External CD-ROM Player with a PCMCIA Type II interface card, in the Epson AN-600 Series NoteBook Computer. 1 The ActionNote should be powered off. 2 Follow the instructions in the Sony PRD-150 Guide for setting up the connections. 3 After the PCMCIA interface cable is attached to the back of the player and to the PCMCIA card, insert the card into the ActionNote. If the AC Adapter for the CD Player is being used, you will hear a high frequency noise. The noise will stop when the Action Note is powered on or when the card is ejected. This noise will not occur, if the CD-ROM player is powered by batteries. NOTE: If another PCMCIA card will be used, insert it also for this installation of the Sony CDROM software, and it will detect and set the appropriate IRQ and I/O address for the Sony card. This will avoid any conflict. 4 At this point, power on the ActionNote and let the PCMCIA drivers load. Choose Boot option #1 from the Boot Option Menu. The Sony card will be recognized by CardSoft/CardWizard but the player will not work until the SONY drivers are installed from DISK 1. 5 The installation software can be installed to run from either DOS or Windows. For the purpose of this Bulletin, we will install from Windows. 6 After Windows is loaded, choose FILE, RUN. At the dialogue box, type A:\INSTALL and click on OK. 7 The WELCOME screen will appear and the pointer will be on INSTALL. Click once 8 The next screen asks you to click on AUTO or MANUAL install. Choose AUTO or, if you need to set special IRQ's, and Addresses, choose MANUAL.

This bulletin provides information on configuring the Sony PRD-150 External CD-ROM
