Printer Lights The table below summarizes the functions of the printer lights. Light Red ) paper out Red H ink (eight) Green P power Meaning On: printer is out of paper, multiple sheets have fed, or the wrong size sheet has fed. Flashing: paper isn't loaded for the currently selected paper path, or paper is jammed. On: an ink cartridge is expended, or the Photo Black or Matte Black cartridges were swapped during printing. Flashing: an ink cartridge is low on ink. On: printer is turned on. Flashing: printer is receiving a print job, printing, replacing or charging ink, or cleaning the print head. Diagnosing Printer Problems First, check the printer's lights (see below) or run a printer check (see page 96). Lights Green P power light flashes Red H ink light flashes Red H ink light on Explanation The printer is receiving a print job, printing, replacing or changing ink, or cleaning the print head. An ink cartridge is low on ink. Make sure you have a replacement cartridge, then follow the steps on page 84 to install it. An ink cartridge is expended, not installed, not installed correctly, or is not compatible with the printer. Follow the steps on page 84 to install or reinstall the cartridge correctly. The Photo Black or Matte Black cartridges were swapped during printing. Replace the original cartridge type in use before the error occurred. 94 Solving Problems
