A few simple maintenance procedures will help you keep your instrument playing like new. After you have finished playing, thoroughly wipe the entire bass, including the strings, with a clean, soft cloth. A regular routine for cleaning your instrument with Fender Polish is recommended. Avoid exposing the bass to any chemical or substance that might mar the finish, as well as, to direct sunlight or other sources of excessive heat, humidity or shock. You must use extreme caution when a thoroughly chilled instrument is to be played. It is important to avoid sudden changes in temperature since this may cause checking to the finish.
