VOLUME CONTROL The Volume Control allows you to control the volume level at the instrument. TONE CONTROL The Tone Control allows you to modify the instrument's tonal response. ADJUSTABLE PICKUPS The pickups on your Fender Standard Series guitar are fully adjustable for height. Adjustments are made by turning the Pickup Adjustments Screws located at either end of the pickups. To raise a pickup, turn the adjustment screws clockwise; to lower, turn the screws counterclockwise. (To adjust the Telecaster Neck pickup, remove the pickguard first. Turn the adjustment screws counterclockwise to raise and clockwise to lower.) The recommended string clearance (3/32") is measured between the pickup and the first and sixth strings when fretted at the highest fret. Note: Pickups set too close to the strings can cause false tones and loss of sustain. ADJUSTABLE BRIDGES The bridge on the Fender Standard Stratocaster (w/tremolo) features a top load stringing system. The strings are inserted into the slots in the bridge plate behind the bridge saddles. Pull the string into its own individual slot and string the guitar as normal. The strings on the Telecaster and Stratocaster (less tremolo) are inserted through the back of the bridge plate. This stringing method allows for a more 4
