Reference 'Comm Port' File Tab Transfer Mode List Selecting a Beacon Frequency from the RCTM Format 38 To select a 'Transfer Mode' : If the GARMIN format is selected, highlight the 'Transfer Mode' field and press the ENTER key. Select the desired setting (top left picture) and press the ENTER key. The 'Transfer Mode' field allows you to specify what information to request or send to a second StreetPilot. The Host setting lets you control all data transfer functions from the second StreetPilot or from a PC. To select a beacon frequency when selecting an RCTM format: If an RTCM format is selected, additional fields are provided to control a GARMIN beacon receiver directly from the StreetPilot. Highlight the 'Beacon' field and select the DGPS beacon you desire from the list provided. Frequency and bit rate will be automatically entered. By selecting 'Other', you can enter the beacon frequency and bit rate on the StreetPilot and the information will be used to tune the beacon receiver (lower left picture). After selecting the desired setting, press the ENTER key. Understanding 'Beacon Status' messages: If an RTCM format is selected, the unit must be connected to a Beacon Receiver. While the beacon is operating a status field keeps you informed of changes in operation. Advisory information such as "Tuning", "No Differential GPS Position", or "Beacon Receiver Disconnected" will display in the 'Beacon Status' field. Take appropriate action as required.
