Operating in Windows Vista® 49 2.6 Connecting to the Internet Your Mobile Computer allows you to connect to the Internet in the following ways: • Use your USIM/SIM card • Use Wi-Fi • Use the Ethernet LAN port of the Extension kit to connect to a wired network Use USIM/SIM card You can use your USIM/SIM card to connect your Mobile Computer to the Internet via the 3G, HSDPA, GPRS, or EDGE network of your wireless service provider. Before you can connect to the Internet using your USIM/SIM card, you need to use the Connection Setup wizard in SnapVUE mode to automatically configure your Mobile Computer with your provider's data connection settings. To find out how to auto-configure the data connection settings, see "First-time Use" in Chapter 3. To connect to the Internet After the Mobile Computer has been set up with your wireless service provider's data connection settings, follow these steps whenever you want to connect to the Internet. 1. Open the Control Center and tap Modem. 2. Wait for the Mobile Computer to connect to your provider's network. When connected, you will see one of the following status icons on the upper-right corner of the Control Center: H : HSDPA 3G : UMTS E : EDGE G : GPRS When you see one of the above status icons, tap Close to exit from the Control Center. 3. Open Internet Explorer® and start browsing the web.

Connecting to the Internet
Your Mobile Computer allows you to connect to the Internet in the
following ways:
Use your USIM/SIM card
Use Wi-Fi
Use the Ethernet LAN port of the Extension kit to connect to
a wired network
Use USIM/SIM card
You can use your USIM/SIM card to connect your Mobile Computer to the
Internet via the 3G, HSDPA, GPRS, or EDGE network of your wireless service
provider.
Before you can connect to the Internet using your USIM/SIM card, you need
to use the Connection Setup wizard in SnapVUE mode to automatically
configure your Mobile Computer with your provider’s data connection
settings. To find out how to auto-configure the data connection settings,
see “First-time Use” in Chapter 3.
To connect to the Internet
After the Mobile Computer has been set up with your wireless service
provider’s data connection settings, follow these steps whenever you want
to connect to the Internet.

Open the Control Center and tap
Modem
.
2.
Wait for the Mobile Computer to connect to your provider’s network.
When connected, you will see one of the following status icons on the
upper-right corner of the Control Center:
H
: HSDPA
3G
: UMTS
E
: EDGE
G
: GPRS
When you see one of the above status icons, tap
Close
to exit from
the Control Center.
