Introduction Repair normally begins with the use of printer internal diagnostics in conjunction with the troubleshooting procedures in chapter 7. When repairing an HP Color LaserJet 8550 MFP printer, first isolate the location of the problem. Usually, simply sending a print job to the printer from a computer is sufficient to determine whether or not the print engine is involved. If it is not, see the service manual specific to the HP Color LaserJet 8550 MFP printer. Once a faulty part is located, repair is generally accomplished by assembly-level replacement of the field-replaceable units. Some mechanical assemblies can be repaired at the subassembly level. Parts and supplies Field replaceable and accessory part numbers are found in chapter 8 of this manual. Use only accessories specifically designed for this printer. Accessories can be ordered from an authorized service or support provider. For a list of available accessories and their part numbers, see page 511.
