Page 76 highlights

D2600/D2700 disk enclosure port information As shown in the following illustration: • SAS port P1: Labelled P1. Use this SAS expansion port for the connection towards the host. ◦ In zoned SAS environments, use this SAS expansion port to connect to the 6G SAS BL Switch ◦ In shared SAS environments, use this SAS expansion port to connect to the MSA 2040 SAS or P2000 G3 SAS MSA or MSA 2040 drive enclosure, P2000 drive enclosure, or D2600/D2700 disk enclosure. • SAS port P2: Labelled P2. ◦ In zoned SAS environments, this port is unused. (Cascading additional disk enclosures is not supported.) ◦ In shared SAS environments, use this SAS expansion port to connect (cascade) an additional disk enclosure. Because two I/O modules are installed in the enclosure, the I/O ports are referred to as follows: • Top I/O module: I/O module A, with the host port referred to as A1 and the expansion port referred to as A2 • Bottom I/O module: I/O module B, with the host port referred to as B1 and the expansion port referred to as B2. NOTE: Mini-SAS to mini-SAS cables are required when connecting D2600/D2700 drive enclosures. 76 Deployment examples

D2600/D2700 disk enclosure port information
As shown in the following illustration:
SAS port P1:
Labelled P1. Use this SAS expansion port for the connection towards the host.
In zoned SAS environments, use this SAS expansion port to connect to the 6G SAS BL
Switch
In shared SAS environments, use this SAS expansion port to connect to the MSA 2040
SAS or P2000 G3 SAS MSA or MSA 2040 drive enclosure, P2000 drive enclosure, or
D2600/D2700 disk enclosure.
SAS port P2:
Labelled P2.
In zoned SAS environments, this port is unused. (Cascading additional disk enclosures
is not supported.)
In shared SAS environments, use this SAS expansion port to connect (cascade) an
additional disk enclosure.
Because two I/O modules are installed in the enclosure, the I/O ports are referred to as follows:
Top I/O module: I/O module A, with the host port referred to as A1 and the expansion port
referred to as A2
Bottom I/O module: I/O module B, with the host port referred to as B1 and the expansion
port referred to as B2.
NOTE:
Mini-SAS to mini-SAS cables are required when connecting D2600/D2700 drive
enclosures.
