HP Ultrium 1840 tape drive support HP StorageWorks Tape Libraries now support the HP StorageWorks Ultrium 1840 tape drive, HP's fourth generation of LTO tape drive technology. The Ultrium 1840 is the highest capacity and fastest tape drive in the StorageWorks family. Write-Once, Read-Many (WORM) data cartridges provide an enhanced level of data security against accidental or malicious alteration of data on the tape cartridge. The WORM data cartridge can be appended to maximize the full capacity of the tape cartridge, but you will be unable to erase or overwrite data on the cartridge. WORM data cartridges are clearly identified by their distinctive, two-tone green and gray cartridge color. To check whether your backup or archive software application supports WORM cartridges, see http://www.hp.com/go/storagemedia. HP StorageWorks Tape Libraries now support the HP StorageWorks Ultrium 1840 tape drive, HP’s fourth
generation of LTO tape drive technology. The Ultrium 1840 is the highest capacity and fastest tape drive

The HP Ultrium 1840 tape drive includes support for both rewriteable and WORM

The Ultrium 4 tape drives support hardware encryption. If your backup application supports
LTO Ultrium hardware encryption, the Ultrium 4 tape drives can encrypt your data when backing up to
Ultrium 4 media. The Library does not provide user access to the tape drive’s hardware encryption
functionality.
