B. If you selected Custom Setup in the Configuration Assistant on the HP NetServer Navigator CD-ROM, run the ECU in manual mode. C. Run the ECU in manual mode from the HP NetServer Navigator Utility menu. D. Run the ECU in manual mode from the utility partition. E. Run the ECU in manual mode from the ECU diskette that you created using the HP NetServer Navigator CD-ROM. 2. Open the 15-16 MB memory hole if you are using the ICA card. You do not need the memory hole if you are using the newer ICA/RM card. Set "15-16 MB Memory Control" in the "View/Edit Details" screen to Enabled or Disabled. 3. Restart the EISA Configuration Utility (if necessary) and use the "Add/Remove Cards" option to install the ICA card. These changes allow the ICA card to be installed at the 15M range by opening a 1 MB addressing hole at the 15M address. HP strongly recommends that you use this memory range for ICA cards. You should configure any ICA card with the .CFG file provided with the card. NOTE: The procedure described for opening the 1 MB hole applies to any card (including multiplexor cards) that can be installed in the 15M address range. If you did not open the addressing hole, or if you installed the card before opening up the hole, you will encounter a memory parity error when trying to configure a line in the ICA card after VINES is installed and running. It may be necessary to clear the CMOS with the CONFIG VALID to recover from this problem before making the configuration corrections. EIDE/ATAPI CDROM drives are not supported VINES does not have support for EIDE/ATAPI CDROM drives. In order to install VINES on a system with an EIDE/ATAPI CDROM drive you must remove the EIDE/ATAPI CDROM drive and connect a SCSI CDROM drive to the systems SCSI controller. You can then install VINES using the SCSI driver on the HP Drivers Diskette. VINES support for SCSI controllers VINES 5.53 (and later) supports the 7770 SCSI controller embedded in the HP NetServer LC. VINES 5.54 (and earlier) do not support PCI controllers, and do not allow third-party drivers added into the NOS. VINES 6.0 (and later) allow you to add drivers. A driver is available for the Adaptec AIC7800 family of PCI SCSI controller chips. This chip is used in the Adaptec 2910 (used in the HP NetServer E 30, E 40, and E 45) and 2940 SCSI controller card and the 5
