Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system. 2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer. 3. Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet, and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer. 4. Remove the keyboard (see Keyboard on page 25). 5. Remove the base enclosure (see Base enclosure on page 28). 6. Remove the battery (see Battery on page 36). 7. Remove the following components: a. Display video cable if not already removed. b. WLAN (see WLAN/Bluetooth combo card on page 37). c. Speaker assembly (see Speaker assembly on page 39). d. Hard drive (see Hard drive on page 40). When replacing the system board, be sure to remove the following components from the defective system board and install on the replacement system board: ● RTC battery (see RTC battery on page 44). ● TouchPad cable (see Step 7 below). Remove the system board: NOTE: The heat shield is spared with the system board. You will need to remove the heat shield to remove the system board. 1.
