SIM NOTE: The SIM is provided by the end user as a security measure for the WWAN module. The SIM should be removed, placed into a static-dissipative container, and then replaced when the computer is reassembled. Before removing the SIM, follow these steps: 1. Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system. 2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer. 3. Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer. 4. Remove the battery (see Battery on page 36). Remove the SIM: 1. Position the computer upside down on a flat surface, with the battery bay toward you. 2. Press in on the SIM (1) to release it from the SIM slot. 3. Remove the SIM (2) from the computer. Install the SIM by inserting it into the SIM slot until you hear a click. Component replacement procedures 37
